My Crooked Little Home

"A House is made of bricks and stone; a home is made of love alone."
It has been six months since I moved... and I can say with certainty that I do still love my crooked little house.
As with any great love, it has been a battle at times. Between non-responsive landlords, my squirrel neighbors in the attic and then there was the month my house looked like it was plagued by chicken pox (I'll save that story for another time)- we have had moments where I wasn't sure we would make it.
But the good definitely outweighs the bad. I have adorable shops in walking distance, I have friends close by to help me paint my porch and the joy of making my creaky old house in to a charming little home- my home.
While I don't see myself here forever- Stephen Stills once said "love the one your with." And I certainly do right now :)

1.) Free hugs around the corner!
2.) My friends came to my rescue to help me paint my porch.
3.) Pretty flowers

Moving On

"The first step towards getting somewhere is deciding you are not going to stay where you are." -Unknown
I am moving! Call it moving on or moving in. Regardless, I am moving. I am leaving my current apartment in the Druid Hills neigborhood where I grew up for the near by neighborhood of Inman Park.
I do like my current apartment- don't get me wrong. However some of the charm that initially drew me to this 1940's red brick apartment building is starting to wear off. The charming wood floors that I do appreciate aren't quite as charming at 4 am when they are creaking as my upstairs neighbor paces back and forth doing god knows what.
A washer and dryer was a must when we moved here. However the shared washer and dryer that costs a dollar in quarters every load is not quite what I had in mind. I can't tell you how many Sunday mornings I have either toated all of my laundry to my parents house or spent the morning begging the clerk at the grocery store to give me the entire roll of quarters so that I would have clean clothes on Monday. In a world where hardly anyone carry's cash anymore quarters can be hard to come by.
Most of all it is time for me to spread my wings. My apartment is a quarter of a mile from the house I grew up in. It is a great neigborhood- but I am looking for something with a little more hustle & bustle. I think Inman Park is a better fit right now.
So for all it's charm- and it is cute- I have raised my standards and decided it is time to say goodbye. Goodbye little apartment- I hope you have lovely new tenants.
